Farewell to Pt England

Being at Pt England school in room 19 has been a special chance for me to make some new friends during 2013. It has been a great year and I have had a lot of fun along with my friends and teacher Ms Tito this year. I got to make a 'kiwiana' board with my friend Raihan and it was pretty cool. While I was in room 19 Ms Tito gave us opportunities to make art or movies I was happy I had Ms T as a teacher.

Knowing that I am leaving Pt England and my year 7 friends I am kind of sad that I am leaving also happy because at Tamaki College I will have new friends and some old. I will miss my friends I have known them for a year but its like I have known them forever. I am going to miss you guys very much thanks for everything.

I am going to miss Ms T and the other teachers here at Pt England school but going off to college in 2014 it has been a wonderful year getting to know the teachers and how they taught us. I think that Ms Tito is the best teacher I have had by far. I am going to miss the teachers here at Pt England thank you teachers.

What I want for next year is to quickly make friends and get to know people at Tamaki College, I also want to get into Basketball or Rugby. I know that what I want might be able to become reality but since it is next year I will have to wait till then.

To all my friends and Teachers that have taught and cared for me this year thank you for all your help for all you have done for me. I will never forget what you have done for me, it is really hard to say goodbye but it has to be done. Thank you Ms T for the awesome activities and all the things you have helped me with. I wish Pt England Students and teachers all the best for 2014 and in the future.

The Reflection About My Netbook And Me Over The Years

By having a netbook it has been very easy for me finding stuff on the web. Using the internet on my netbook means that I can learn more about subjects at school and the meaning of words, adjectives and subjects in school such as math, Te Reo Maori, writing such as that. A found using a netbook is a very rewarding opportunity and can help me with my work in school and out of school. I was stuck in some of my times tables during the year it was very hard for me to solve the problems, but thanks to google I can search up anything on the net and will pop on my screen it is cool to see what stuff you can search up with google.

This year using my netbook I have learnt how to master the different kinds of things off and on the web. I have found out about stuff that I have never known before and I have had a follower on my blog because of my work and explaining to him what I was doing at how I did stuff like how I put hyperlinks on my blogpost. With my netbook it has helped me learn more and now I have more knowledge on what I am doing and how I do stuff on the web.

The special thing my teacher Ms Tito taught my class and me this year is to be a *Purple Cow* I thought being in Ms T’s class would be boring but it was pretty fun over the year. I didn’t know I would have this much Laughter and Energy it was cool hanging with my friends and teacher.

I have learnt a shortcut on my netbook how to switch on my docs from a computer without using my password it was very cool when I learnt that. I found out using that became handy and started using it because I thought it was a good idea.

I have learnt from Kitiona how to get on the internet by using a code on terminal even when it wasn't working properly I think that is a good thing knowing how to do that.

Year 8 Camp

First Highlight: Was taking a swim at the beach because there was some good waves and I swam under the. It was raining, I like to swim at the beach when it rains. We were also playing a game of touch it was really fun.

Second Highlight: This thing was fun but it was kind of smelly. The Agrodome farm is my second favourite Highlight out of the year 8 camp. Because the dogs were running over the sheep when the guy blew the whistle it was so cool.

Last Highlight: My last highlight at year 8 camp is the bus ride. Because all the boys on the bus were making up raps about different things. My favourite subject in their raps was about Agrodome because they rapped about the animals in the farm.

Nelson Mandela

In the 1990’s was Nelson Mandela’s release from prison on Robben Island in South Africa is where he was serving a life sentence. An international campaign had lobbied for his release, which was granted in 1990. After becoming President, Nelson Mandela led negotiations with President F.W. de Klerk establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory.

Mandela was a kind and generous man and he didn’t believe in that black and white people should be treated separately or differently. He was a person who persecuted his dreams and wishes, Mandela had a courageous soul and heart and he cared for everyone even the people that imprisoned him for twentyseven years and one of his quotes were “I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man.”

He was a humble man and loved helping people in need. He grew up with his two sisters in a small village named Mvezo in Umtatu. Nelson Mandela was born on the 18 of July 1918. Mandela met Evelyn Mase, an African National Congress activist from Engcobo and got to socialise with other people on an equal basis.

At the time he was doing some training to become a nurse. He was Married on the 5 of October    in the year 1944, he lived with his family, they rented a house in Orlando in the early 1946. Thats when Nelson Mandela became a founding member of the African National Congress Youth League.

The three things I enjoyed at Pt England

Recently, the year 7 and 8's of P.E.S went down to the Glen Innes Pools to do some swimming lessons. I was in Group 2 and we did a lot of backstroke and freestyle. I enjoyed the last day because we had free time in one pool and races in the other. Even though I wanted to do relays I did freetime with my friends I still enjoyed it though.

At Manaiakalani Film Festival I was going to hoyts cinema in Sylvia Park and was able to watch a little bit of funny and different kinds of movies. “I wonder what my favorite movie will be?” I thought to myself, I knew it would be a good day today.

My favourite highlight of this year is probable being in Miss Tito’s class and making new friends and connection with everyone in Room 19. The thing I like about in Room 19 is that everybody cooperates even though they don’t want to.

200 Migrant Workers Saved

There a was a boat emergency just off the coast of North Africa they were going to Tunisia, there were probably more than 200-300 people on the boat before it capsized. Most of the people on board the boat were Syrian and Palestinian, 200 people were pulled to safety but what was said that 30 people died in the capsize.

On one of the weeks more than 300 African refugees were on a boat when it capsized and they all died near an island in Italy of Lampedusa. It was a tragedy for a lot of people on that day family members died on that boat. It is really sad that the people died from a boat especially when 2 weeks in a row it happened.

There were lots of calls for the European Union to do more to stop the migrants happening and risking people’s live to sail to Europe. I think Migrants shouldn’t happen in the first place anyway they should stop this immediately. Everyone that sails to Europe will die from sinking or will make it over there safely.

Day at White sunday

This morning we had 40 minutes to write about anything we wanted. From this we are going to set our writing goals for the term. Here is what I wrote.

White Sunday was the best fun I have had out of my whole holidays. I went with my aunties and brothers to the church. We got to the church and already there were lots of people there we almost got mistaken to be kids performing in the event. Luckily our aunty did not know where we were so she checked in the waiting room for the performers and there we were sitting. we were walking to our seats when we bumped into my other aunt.

We got to the front row seats and were waiting for the event to start by the time it started I was really hungry. It was 8:47 and the singing and plays commenced at 9:00 it was also funny because everyone was quiet and only the piano was playing. Then all you could here was “BONG” the white Sunday event was ready to start. All the families were cheering and yelling it was really cool how they could encourage other peoples kids.

I was there for my three cousins Raewen, Rowana and Kruz they were in lots of the church groups. I was surprised that how many groups they were in, it was shocking actually I was proud of them. I loved the little kids they had a Gangnam style at the end of their dance it was cute some of them did the wrong actions or were facing the wrong way. It was very really cute.

Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks was waiting for the bus at the bus stop after a hard day at work.The bus finally arrived. Rosa dragged her aching body up the bus stairs and handed over 10 cents. She sat in the black section of the bus at the back.

Then a white person came and told Rosa to move out of her chair because black people have to move for white people if there are no more seats in the black section even if it means they have to leave the bus. It is pretty sad that the black people had to move for the white people or the black person goes to jail if they don't obey the laws.

Rosa asked to stay because she was tired and old, but the man still said move.Rosa refused so the white person signaled the driver to tell her to move so she waved to a couple of cops she got arrested. Black people took notice and boycotted the bus service. They started their own black taxi company and black people that had cars pick up friends. The black taxi company only charged 10 cents to go anywhere they want.then any black taxi driver caught charging 10 cents would be fired. they have to charge 45 cents. Then the bus service had to live without the black people riding the local bus for a year. Then some of the M.i.a got together to discuss what they have to do . they came to a decision to make segregation on buses unconstitutional. ROSA WON

Movie Reflection

The message of my movie is love. The thing about this message is going to be cool because it shows that someone cares about a girl else they didn’t like and would do anything for her.

Angles/shots, Normal, Short, Far, Birds Eye and Worms Eye

The Camera will be still in some bits and other bits it will be moving around alot.

The sound quality is going to be Ok.

There is going to be some interaction between the boy and the girl while their somewhere or they are doing something like walking around. Then boy and girl really care about each other and will do anything for each other. The Expression’s will be Happy, Sad, Annoyed, Angry and Excited.

The Quality of the movie is going to be really great and the people aren’t going to have drawn backgrounds. The stuff the students do is real there could also be stunt doubles during some stunts it was pretty cool.

I hate grave's at night O_O

So far it has been a wonderful night with my friends. We had just been to the movies to watch the paranormal activity 4 the gates were cut off so we had to go the long way through the graveyard. I thought it was a bad idea because it was April the first and I was not sure if my friend’s wanted to prank me or give me a scare so I did not take any chance,  so I jumped up on the cinema gates and jumped the gates and went home. I was so tired and I could not wait to sleep then “RING RING” my phone rang it was one of my friends Sonny and when I picked up it was not him it was a something/someone with A really deep voice.

He told me to come to the graveyard alone with no one and he said if I rang the cops or bring them with me. I told mum I was going to my friends house for the night so she could believe me I pretend to call my and say “ Hey can I come to your house for the night” So my mum let me go to my friends house. It took me an hour to get there I was so tired when I got there I knocked on the door no one answered so I knocked again then I heard horror music so I told the choir to get away then “WOOSH” the door opened.

I was surprised who it was. It was Sonny’s uncle Richard he looked older I asked him if I could stay for the night then I could hear groans “ARGHHHH” it was zombies rising from the dead. I was scared so I ran inside quickly locked the doors then I heard a scream I thought it was someone faking so I ran to where the screaming was. It was sonny’s brother Raihan the zombies were pulling him out the window so I got the gun and shot the undead fiends. I was ready to give myself when I heard “KAME HAME HA’” and a big gigantic plasma beam came down and destroyed a huge amount of zombies.

It was Goku he knew that we should combine our power to make an ultimate fusion to destroy the zombies and save the rest of glen innes. I was so happy, so we did the fusion and did the ultimate Spirit Bomb. We were doing the spirit bomb when the werewolf controller of the undead was going to kill us he used a laser and took away the spirit bomb’s power. So we did Kame Hame Ha “KAME HAME HA” it worked so we quickly recharged and did spirit bomb “SPIIIRIT BOMBBBBBBBB” we used the combine power and destroyed the werewolf and the fiends. G.I and maybe the rest of the world we saved I was so happy.

Cross Country

On the 22 of August on a Thursday afternoon Pt England School had a school cross country/Fun Run. Our schools Fun Run was supported by Adidas. We had to get sponsored by our Whanau (Family) in order to get some cool prizes out of a book that we could choose. we had to raise over $5.00 to get a prize.

It started with the 5 year old boys then the 5 year old girls it went in that pattern until the Yr 8 boys. When it was time for the Yr 8 boys my adrenaline was pumping.

When the siren went off I started off with a jog then into a steady pace and so on. I started to fall back but that wasn't stoping me I was like a machine I was jumping puddles like thunder hurdling through mud like an alligator.

It was the last stand me and the mud filled track just as I was to the finish line my friend was sliding in puddles I quickly ran to the puddle he was sliding in and I didn't care about winning I just wanted to slide.

Rainbow Warrior Bombing

Unfortunately on the 10th of july year 1955 just before midnight an incident occurred where the Rainbow Warrior had been bombed by some French Spies. Apparently the people of Greenpeace were throwing a birthday party for Peter Willcox but  they had no idea at all that there were 2 suspicious French people  just out of range for them to see..What they didn’t know is that these two people were French Spies working for the French government. They had scuba gears on and were in a zodiac ready to bomb the Rainbow Warrior.

It was just before midnight when they were all singing and drinking away.They were oblivious to what was going on right below their boat. They were so loud that they wouldn’t have been able to hear a thing.  Surriptiously  the spies were under the boat attaching two limpet bombs.

So far there was nothing happening  until “Boom” the first bomb went off at 11:38 p.m sending one of the crew members of his chair. At first they did not know what it was then the second bomb went off and the captain rushed down to the engine room to see what had happened and there was water everywhere. “ABANDON SHIP,” shouted the captain. Sadly Fernando Pereira there photographer was not able to get of the ship on time and had a tragic death.

The story started when the  French Government were angered by Greenpeace’s plan to hired some French spies to bomb the Rainbow Warrior.  After bombing of  the Rainbow the two spies were arrested. Dominique Prieur and Alain Mafart went to got sentenced to prison in NZ but the French told NZ to give them over or they will boycott NZ’s products. In the end they ended up in France again but treated like hero’s.

Basketball

Every Thursday from the starting of term 3 Room 19 went to basketball training.“Yes we're going to basketball” I said to Nathanial sitting next to me when we were walking.

As I saw the basketball court I was just about to run down to our teacher but didn't really want to.

We went to practice bouncing,handling and how to do awesome tricks. Every time we go to basketball we practice jump stop. One of my favourite things to do at basketball was a game called King Of The Count. To play King Of The Court you have to start in a small circle and try backhand the other person ball out of the circle.

The first week we had basketball I was so surprised when Mrs Lagitupu took us to the court to play basketball. The first thing we did was play a warm up game. We played octopus. As I was zooming down the court I noticed that everyone was in but four of my classmates. I got tagged first out of them but it was a cool.

As we were leaving basketball we said thank you to our basketball teacher and went back to class. "I love basket ball"

Silas If I Were Black

HURRY UP CLEVELAND MUM AND DAD ARE WAY UP AHEAD,” I yelled. I hoisted Cleveland onto my shoulders and rushed through the crowd to find mum and dad. They were holding up some signs saying, “Equality for Blacks”. We finally found them halfway through the chanting groups of black and white people. While we marched, me and my little brother Cleveland were chanting with pride and hope.

My name is Omar. The year was 1963 and we were in Washington D.C. marching to make things equal between the black and white people. When we reached the Lincoln Memorial the march was over. Everyone gathered round eager to hear what Martin Luther King had to say

“I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream,”Martin Luther King’s voice was loud and clear speaking out to the crowd of thousands. He was very inspiring.

North Harbour Vs Marist Eastern

It was a early Sunday morning and the boys from Marist Eastern were going to North Harbour Stadium to challenge Marist North Harbour. The bus was waiting across the road and we were ready to go, we didn't know where the bus was going so we sat back and enjoyed the ride. There was 2 teams under 13's that was my team and under 12's restricted I sat back relaxed while everyone on the bus was chatting away. We were almost there when we could see the stadium in a view, it was massive there was my team mates thinking we were going to play in the stadium.

We got inside the area and the bus stopped, we were playing on one of the fields at 2 o'clock I was waiting for the game to start so we could beat north harbour. It getting near 2 o'clock when the reef came and checked our boots and mouth guards, everything was perfect. I was so excited that our team had been invited to challenge north harbour. 

The game had started and our team was ready and waiting for north harbour to get ready I watched on the sideline. My friend Tevita got the first and last try of the game our team and supporters cheered I was clapping for Tevita. It was good game against North Harbour I was happy my team won.

Silas, Mosa Goldstar Fairytale

Once upon a time there was a boy who stole a lot of things. But he wasn’t just a thief he was a evil spirit too. Deep in the forest Mother bear is preparing breakfast for her family.“OWWW my porridge is too hot’ said baby bear “lets go for a walk” said father bear. When there going out Goldstar saw them walk out. “There’s my chance” explains Goldstar. He crept in, closed the door and started snooped around the house looking for a safe, instead he found 3 bowls of porridge. He ate a bowl and leaves the other 2 bowls.

But what he didn’t realize was that there was another touch of ingredients. There were worms and tree bark was also added. He quickly spat it out when he felt the worms wriggling around in his mouth. Then he decides to go down stairs and found three beds. He forgot about the three beds and kept looking and suddenly he tripped on a toy and a closet opened. When he looked at the toy it hadn’t moved a bit it just went down slowly he went to examine the suspiciously he pulled it and looked under. Theres a lever here and I’ve found the safe,he said so he quickly stole what he could and then he broke two beds. he heard a knock at the door and quickly jumped out the window and lived happily ever after and he never stoled anything again.

Literacy Cycle

This term the senior students of Pt England school have been doing some events with the teachers of classrooms. Every team 5 teacher is pitching in to do an activity with the students of room 15, 19, 20, 21, 22.

Last week I had animations with Miss King I was so happy when I got told I waited for Miss King to come. I waited and then Miss King walked in and asked to sit on the carpet. The theme we had to do hyper studio was on Michael Jackson Anthony and I. My animation didn't get finished but at least I finished trying.

I hope my next rotation is visual art I really like art it is one of the few things I like to do. Animation was cool though because we learnt new things like how to do graphic object. My friend Anthony and I were doing man in the mirror we had a werewolf guy standing in the mirror shaving. He was trying to be a better man.

Animations is really fun and I hope that the next people in animations have a good time. Animations rock, I didn't finish my animation but at least I had fun doing it. Miss king you are the bomb taking animations class. Miss King you rockl

League Training

Every Thursday room 19 go out to the field or hall for league practise it is really fun. We've been learning how to do 2 kicks grubber kick and punt, also learn how to catch in the right way. We play games before a practise session every time we go.

I have been enjoying the fitness and games we've been doing for the last few weeks. I can not wait until this Thursday coming up! I am going to post what we've learnt about at league.
